Syl’s Café, Ontonagon, MI, reports the use of the Biomass from their recently purchased Ecovim Drying Machine to replace up to 25% of the feed for their Cattle and Goats.
After submitting composite samples from 15 cycles of operation of their Ecovim Dehydration machine, for analysis as both cattle feed and compost, the determination was made that their recycled food waste scraps from the Café can be used to feed their cattle and goats. They replace up to 25% of the grains for the animals with the Ecovim biomass. Look for the details of testing in another document on the Food Waste Dehydration page under “More Information”. This information and data validates the use of the Ecovim biomass as animal feed for the first time. The U.S. EPA has prioritized where food waste should be diverted for reuse and recycling. Feed for Animals is the next highest priority to Feed for People and is significantly better for the environment than sending food waste to a commercial composting site.
